Jones: Trump nominee is torpedo aimed at Affordable Care Act

Doug Jones

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — U.S. Sen. Doug Jones is calling President Donald Trump’s Supreme Court nominee a “torpedo” aimed at destroying the Affordable Care Act.

In a Facebook campaign event Wednesday, Alabama’s Democratic senator said he is very concerned about the potential loss of the Affordable Care Act as it faces a Supreme Court test.

Jones said Trump’s nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett is aimed at securing the act’s end. Jones said people will be at the mercy of big insurance companies without the ACA.

Jones faces a tough reelection bid against Republican Tommy Tuberville.
