Alabama Public Radio was awarded two Regional Edward R. Murrow Awards from the Radio Television Digital News Association this week.
Both awards went to the station's series on human trafficking throughout the state.
"Alabama, Human Trafficking, and the Web" was awarded in the Investigative Reporting category, and "Selling Kids: Human Trafficking in Alabama" was awarded best News Documentary.
The reporting for the series took 14 months and covered multiple aspects of human trafficking including labor trafficking and how trafficking affects the LGBTQ+ community.
The RTDNA Edward R. Murrow Awards are among the most prestigious in broadcast and digital news.
