MOBILE, Ala. (AP) — A California port executive is taking over as head of the Alabama State Port Authority in Mobile.

The agency says John C. Driscoll will replace longtime Alabama docks director Jimmy Lyons on June 1. Driscoll most recently worked as maritime director the port in Oakland, California. Before that Driscoll worked for a shipping company.

Lyons has worked as chief executive at the state port in Mobile for more than two decades. He officially retires at the end of the year.
