Weeks after her disappearance, a convicted sex offender faces charges in the case of an Alabama woman left dead in a shallow grave in Hueytown.
The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has charged 50-year-old Fredrick Hampton on Thursday with abuse of her corpse. The chief sheriff’s deputy said there is evidence the two were together the night when she was last seen on Dec. 20 but has not charged him with involvement in her death.
The 29-year-old sent a text to a friend about being “in trouble” that night after leaving a bar in Birmingham with two men. Her body was found on Jan. 3, two weeks after her disappearance.
Police are still looking for Hampton.
