Innovation Center Coming to Maxwell AFB

Air force officials and business leaders hope a new innovation center could bring big changes to the city of Montgomery.

The Montgomery Advertiser reports Maxwell Air Force Base plans to build an innovation center outside the gates of the facility, where researchers at the prestigious Air University can collaborate with the nation’s top tech and business minds.

Air Force officials hope that collaboration will bring new businesses and jobs to Montgomery. One Air Force general says Maxwell Boulevard could be lined with new buildings housing major aerospace and technology firms.

The U.S. military describes Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base as a key component of Air Education and Training Command. It’s the Air Force’s main center for professional military education.

Former Air University commander Lt. Gen. Steven Kwast says the pool of talent at Air University already includes future Air Force leaders and future leaders of other nations.
