An attorney with the American Civil Liberties Union has filed a formal complaint with the Alabama State Bar against U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions.
ACLU attorney Christopher Anders argues Jeff Sessions made false statements during his confirmation hearing to become Attorney General.
Sessions, a U.S. Senator from Alabama at the time, told the Senate Judiciary Committee he hadn’t had any contact with the Russian government over the course of Donald Trump’s presidential campaign. He later acknowledged that he had met with Russia’s U.S. ambassador twice, but those meetings did not pertain to the campaign.
Anders’ complaint urges the Alabama State Bar to investigate and determine whether then-Senator Sessions violated Alabama’s rules of professional conduct.
