Dauphin Island Gears Up for Labor Day Holiday

Dauphin Island West End Beach

Dauphin Island will hold several events to celebrate the holiday weekend.

There will be family-friendly movies played on the beach tonight and throughout the weekend to give people a chance to get out and enjoy the last holiday of the summer.

Jeff Collier is the Mayor of Dauphin Island. He says there will be other events taking place as well throughout the weekend.

“One will be a sunset concert which is also at West End Beach, and that will be at 5:45 p.m., and it will be featuring a group called Crowned Jewelz. Admission for that particular show is five dollars per person to people thirteen years and older.”

Following the concert, there will be a free fireworks show at the public beach next to Dauphin Island School on Sunday night. Collier says the storms in the Gulf should have little impact on the festivities.
