Alabama legislators say they need more information on an unprecedented process before they can move forward with articles of impeachment against embattled Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley.
Articles of impeachment filed Tuesday are on hold as legislators work to set up a new committee to vet the process. The committee could have subpoena power to hear testimony on allegations against Bentley.
Republican Rep. Ed Henry is leading the call for impeachment. He says the legislature "wasn't prepared" for the situation. The last impeachment proceedings in Alabama occurred a century ago.
Rules Committee Chairman Mac McCutcheon hopes to work through the process quickly but couldn't say if issue would be resolved before the end of session next month.

This year’s Alabama Library Association Convention is expected to bring almost every librarian across the state to Gadsden. The event starts up next Tuesday and last until Friday. The convention will include the Alabama Author Awards, a president’s reception and its new author’s expo.
Craig Scott of Gadsden Public Library says the public is welcome to attend the new expo on April 13.
“We’re going to open the event to the public, and they can come in to meet the authors. We have some well-known names Charles Ghigna out of Birmingham. He’s known as “father goose”, and authors many children’s books. We have Rick Bragg -who’s well-known in the state, as well- among many others.”
Tickets for the convention are one sale. For more information, visit the Alabama Library Association’s website.
