TUSKEGEE, Ala. (AP) - Tuskegee University's new president is expected to begin his position soon. The Montgomery Advertiser reports that Brian Johnson will be officially introduced to the campus on June 13 in the auditorium of the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center at Tuskegee University. Johnson was unanimously selected to serve as president beginning June 15. He replaces the outgoing Gilbert Rochon. Johnson worked in academic affairs at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tenn. School officials say 40-year-old Johnson was chosen after a nationwide search and is one of the youngest people to be tapped to lead a historically black college or university in recent years. Tuskegee University was founded in 1881 by Booker T. Washington and enrolls about 3,000 students.
