Birmingham, AL – The Birmingham City Council is scheduled to consider a resolution revoking the Birmingham Airport Authority Board's lease to operate the airport.
The resolution from Council President Roderick Royal is scheduled to come up on Tuesday. It's a response to what he calls the board's intentionally ignoring an agreement that requires the council to review and approve the agency's budgets.
The Birmingham News reports the resolution would give the board 60 days notice to vacate the airport.
Airport Authority chairwoman Gaynell Hendricks on Friday submitted the capital and operating budget, which is already in effect, to Royal and the council. Hendricks says the board traditionally has sent its budgets to the mayor and the council member who also sits on the board.
