26 Alabama Counties Remain "Dry"

By Associated Press

Montgomery AL – Residents in Arab and Cleburne County have voted to legalize liquor sales while voters in Randolph and Blount counties rejected similar proposals.

Residents in those four areas voted Tuesday on the issue of legalizing the sale of alcholic beverages.

Arab voters approved the measure with 54 percent of the vote, just two years after a wet-dry vote narrowly failed. Cleburn County also passed the measure with about 60 percent voting yes.

Randolph and Blount counties remain two of 26 Alabama counties that do not allow the sale of alcohol.
