Two Inductees Named for Women's Hall of Fame

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – A blues and folk singer from Sumter County and a civil rights advocate from Montgomery will be inducted into the Alabama Women's Hall of Fame at Judson College in March. The inductees are Vera Hall and Juliette Hampton Morgan. Hall gained national exposure for her vocal performances in the 1930s, and her recordings are part of the Folksong Archives of the Library of Congress. She died in 1964. Morgan was a Montgomery librarian who became an advocate for civil rights. Her writings on the subject contributed to the end of racial segregation in the state. She died in 1957.
