A former University of Alabama in Huntsville professor accused of killing three co-workers and wounding three others has officially been found guilty. It only took jurors about twenty minutes to make Amy Bishop’s guilty plea official. In an abbreviated trial, jurors heard evidence of how Bishop opened fire during a faculty meeting at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, where she killed three co-workers and wounded three others after being denied tenure.

A former biology professor accused of pulling a gun from her purse and opening fire at a faculty meeting pleaded guilty Tuesday to killing three colleagues and wounding three others at the University of Alabama in Huntsville in 2010. Amy Bishop, 47, pleaded guilty to one count of capital murder involving two or more people and three counts of attempted murder during a hearing in Huntsville. She had earlier pleaded not guilty, and her lawyers said she planned to use an insanity defense.

Huntsville Students Want Campus Chick-fil-A Closed

Some students at the University of Alabama in Huntsville are calling for the campus Chick-fil-A restaurant to close after a company executive's comments caused an uproar in the debate over gay marriage. Members of UA Huntsville's Gay-Straight Alliance want the restaurant shut down. GSA Founder and President Heather Shelton said having the restaurant on campus is not consistent with the university's anti-discrimination policy. She said the group plans to take up the issue with Sodexo, which operates the campus Chick-fil-A. Another student, Adelle Sutton, disagrees.
