Dead Stop

Morning Edition heads out on a special summer road trip with "Dead Stop: Famous Final Resting Places of Americans Great and Small." The series takes listeners to strange, funny, historic or otherwise notable gravesites and cemeteries around the U.S., touching on American history, biography, art, religion and land use along the way. "Dead Stop" launches Monday, May 28, and runs occasionally throughout the summer.

The American Dream

The American Dream has always meant opportunity -- the idea that anyone can make it here. Woven through our politics, culture and family histories, the simple phrase lifted and sustained Americans for generations, and its promise inspired millions to come to the United States in search of a better life. Yet this collective ideal has always been fraught, as the country struggled to extend opportunities beyond white men to African Americans, women, Latinos, gays and lesbians, those with disabilities, and others.

Recently, NPR announced a multimedia music magazine for music lovers of all tastes and styles.  The app includes lives concerts, exclusive first listens, original reporting and commentary. It also takes advantage of the rich visual interface and tactile navigation of the iPad to present an integrated blend of text, images, audio and video.
