Three of Alabama's community colleges have new leaders.
Community college Chancellor Mark Heinrich says the State Board of Education has approved the appointment of Andrea Mayfield as president of Shelton State Community College in Tuscaloosa. She had been at East Mississippi Community College for 18 years, including serving as a dean and a vice president.
Alabama community colleges are expanding their course offerings that prepare students to start and run their own businesses.
Al.com reports (http://bit.ly/10MrpTO ) the Alabama Community College System plans to add classes in entrepreneurship and support programs. Gadsden State Community College this semester rolled out an entrepreneurship program to train students how to deal with common financial and marketing issues.
