A special worship service is being held for police, firefighters and other first responders in Mobile. The "Blue Mass" will be held at 12:10 p.m. Friday at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception in Mobile. The mass is an annual event that's meant for emergency workers to receive prayers and blessings from the church for their service. This marks the 12th year the mass has been held in memory of first responders since the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. The service is open to the public.
Roman Catholics in Mobile are hosting a special "Blue Mass" for police, firefighters and other first responders in southwest Alabama.
The annual service will held at lunchtime Friday at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in downtown Mobile.
The event is held each year around the anniversary of the terror attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. It's meant to express appreciation for people who service in public safety positions.
