Ala. Governor Sets Ceremonial Signings for Bills

Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley will hold a ceremonial signing of bills aimed at reducing the abuse of prescription drugs.

   Bentley's office said the governor will be joined by officials with the Medical Association of Alabama and other leaders at the ceremonial signing ceremony. The governor officially signed the legislation earlier this year.

   The ceremony will be at 1 p.m. Monday in the Old House chamber at the Alabama Capitol.

Officials Set Ala. News Conference on Drug Program

Top state and federal criminal justice officials plan to hold a news conference to announce a program that will allow people to turn in prescription drugs with no questions asked.

Alabama Attorney General Luther Strange, U.S. Attorney George Beck and Drug Enforcement Administration Assistant Special Agent in Charge Clay Morris will hold a news conference at 10 a.m. Thursday at the U.S Attorney's office in Montgomery.

The officials will discuss Saturday's scheduled event that will allow people to turn in prescription drugs at more than 60 sites around Alabama.
