Forecasters Issue Flash Flood Warnings In Alabama

Lots of rain expected for Alabama of the next couple of days with flood warnings Thursday evening and a flood watch through Saturday morning.

Heavy rains have prompted the National Weather Service to issue flash flood warnings for several Alabama counties.

Huntsville forecasters placed northwest Madison County under a flood warning Thursday until 6 p.m. CDT. A warning was also in effect until 5:15 p.m. for central Morgan County, southeast Limestone County, southeast Lawrence and northwest Cullman County.

Meteorologist Jennifer Schuller says the weather service received many phone calls from people reporting heavy rain and roads blocked by flooding in north Alabama.

NWS Says Snow Could Follow Rain, Watch Issued

Snowfall is possible for much of the northern part of the state starting Wednesday night.

Forecasters say the rain that's been soaking north Alabama for days could turn into snow before it ends.


The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch for much of the area, saying parts of north Alabama could receive 1 to 4 inches of snow.


Forecasters say snow could begin overnight Wednesday and continue possibly into Friday in some places.


Forecasters say the biggest threat is northeast of Birmingham, particularly in higher elevations.

Rains, Flooding Threat Continues in Alabama

Rivers are rising and flooding continues to be a threat as rain keeps falling in Alabama.


A flood warning is in effect for most of northern and western Alabama, and a flood watch covers the rest of the region.


The National Weather Service says as much as 1 inch of additional rain could fall Wednesday, increasing flooding problems since the ground already is saturated with water.

North Alabama Remains Under Flood Threat

Forecasters say north Alabama remains under a flood threat following storms that will dump as much as 7 inches of rain on the region before they leave the state.


Heavy downpours caused flooding in northwest Alabama on Monday, and the weather service says northeast Alabama is now most at risk.


Forecasters have issued a flood warning that includes all or parts of Colbert, DeKalb, Jackson, Lauderdale, Lawrence, Limestone, Madison, Marshall and Morgan counties.
