Town to Open Guy Hunt Library, Museum

By Associated Press

Holly Pond, AL – The home of former Gov. Guy Hunt plans to build a library and museum in his honor.

Holly Pond Mayor Herman Nail told the Cullman Times that work on the Guy Hunt Library and Museum is under way. He said the town doesn't yet know how much the project will cost or when it will open.

Hunt, who died in February at age 75, was elected in 1986 to become Alabama's first Republican governor since Reconstruction. He was removed from office halfway through his second term after being convicted on a felony ethics charge.

Hunt, a Primitive Baptist preacher, was a native of Cullman County and lived in Holly Pond for years.
