Testimony Continues in Ft. Rucker Rape Trial

By Alabama Public Radio

Fort Rucker, AL – A former New Jersey National Guard soldier testified Monday that she was raped twice within an hour by a fellow Army officer. Jennifer Dyer told a military judge at Fort Rucker that she tried to fight off the attack in her barracks room. Her testimony comes in the trial of First Lieutenant Mike Hall. Dyer alleges that Hall raped her in August 2004 at Camp Shelby, near Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Hall says the sex was consensual. He waived his right to a trial by a military jury, opting instead for a bench trial with Colonel Richard Gordon presiding. Gordon will question witnesses and decide on a verdict. The defense argues that Dyer's allegations were an attempt to get out of the Army and avoid deployment to Iraq.
