Montgomery, AL – A survey by the Alabama Department of Public Health and other state agencies also shows a record number of people in Alabama are putting children in child restraint seats. The survey shows 82 percent of residents are wearing seat belts when they drive or sit in the front seat. That's compared to 80 percent in 2004. The survey found that 92 percent of young children riding in vehicles in Alabama were in child restraint seats, compared to 83 percent last year. That's up from seven percent in 1981.
