Birmingham, AL – Seven individuals and one corporation have been indicted for bribery and other offenses in connection with construction work on the Jefferson County sewer system. Five employees of the County Environmental Services Department are charged with accepting bribes to support the interests of Roland Pugh Construction. The company and two of its part owners are charged with offering the bribes to those county employees. The company did receive at least $150 million worth of contracts for work on the sewer system. Authorities say the bribes included vacations, landscape work and the payment of college expenses for the child of one county employee.
