Scrushy Jury Suggests Deadlock

By Alabama Public Radio

Birmingham, AL – Jurors considering the case against former HealthSouth C-E-O Richard Scrushy Tuesday told the judge they couldn't reach a verdict. A handwritten note to U-S District Judge Karon Bowdre said jurors could not unanimously agree on a verdict and would like the judge's explanation in private, if possible. The note did not say what jurors needed explained. Judge Bowdre sent back a message asking them to clarify. She also said a private meeting was not possible. This was the second time the jury has raised the possibility of a deadlock. Tuesday was the fourth day of deliberations in the case.
