An internal investigation by the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is criticizing its former chief's attendance and management.
Gov. Robert Bentley included the report in his filing with an impeachment committee last week. It was former agency head Spencer Collier's accusations that helped launched the impeachment probe against Bentley.
The report quotes agency employees as saying Collier was frequently absent. They also questioned purchases he made. Bentley's office released the report to The Associated Press and other media in response to public records requests.
Collier attorney Kenny Mendelsohn calls the document "a sham."
Bentley fired Collier in March, citing possible misuse of funds. Collier then accused Bentley of having an affair with a staffer and of interfering with law enforcement business.
Bentley admitted making inappropriate remarks to her, but denied other accusations.
