Replica Will Depict First Presidential Residence

By Alabama Public Radio

Montevallo, AL – A replica of America's first presidential residence will be built at The American Village in Montevallo. The living history park will feature a likeness of the red brick Philadelphia mansion where George Washington lived while serving as the country's first president. Village Director Tom Walker says the new house could be finished by January 2006. More details about the project will be made public Tuesday when The American Village celebrates its fifth birthday. The park is supported by public and private funding sources and has an annual budget of more than three million dollars.
