By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – An Alabama Marine from Montgomery has died in Iraq. Warrant Officer Charles Wells Junior was killed Wednesday during fighting. The 32-year-old was based in Orlando. He was assigned to the Marine Forces Reserve's Sixth Motor Transport Battalion, Fourth Force Service Support Group.
Meanwhile, another Alabamian was seriously injured in Iraq Sunday when his vehicle ran over an explosive. Specialist Kenneth Bosarge was serving as a gunner on top of a Humvee when the device exploded. The 24-year-old Grand Bay man received 32 shrapnel wounds to his lower body, arms, neck and face. He also lost sight in his right eye but is expected to recover from his other wounds. Bosarge is currently in an Army Medical Center in Germany, reportedly in good spirits. He's expected to arrive in Washington, D.C. by Sunday. Bosarge was serving with the Third Infantry Division.
