More Guard Troops Are Coming Home

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Members of the 214th Military Police Company could be returning to the United States before the end of the month. The National Guard Unit has detachments in Alexander City and Tuskegee. It was deployed to Iraq about a year ago to support Operation Iraqi Freedom. An exact date isn't known, but guard spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Bob Horton says the 214th could return within the next two weeks. But it may be a bittersweet moment for some. Unit member Sergeant Aubrey Bell of Tuskegee was killed in a suicide car bomb attack October 27th. He's among 19 Alabamians who have died in Iraq.
