Mobile Soldiers Return Home From Iraq

By Alabama Public Radio

Mobile, AL – More Alabama soldiers are returning home from Iraq. The Mobile-based 498th Transportation Company will arrive in the Port City Saturday. The 130-member Army Reserve unit has served in Iraq for a year. 18 members of the company received purple hearts, and 20 earned bronze stars. Officials say the company's convoys were attacked numerous times while delivering military supplies in some of the more dangerous parts of the country. Officials say the public is welcome to come out and greet the soldiers Saturday morning at Hank Aaron Stadium.
