King Warns of Tsunami Relief Scams

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Attorney General Troy King says residents should carefully consider their financial contributions to tsunami disaster relief charities. He says questionable telemarketing efforts and door-to-door solicitations are already being reported across the country. But he says there have been no reports of such scams in Alabama. King says contributors should not give cash. Instead, he suggests using a check or money order made payable to the relief organization. He also says residents should be skeptical of telephone or Internet solicitations.
