By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – State Attorney General Troy King and State Auditor Beth Chapman are supporting Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh to become the next chairman of the Alabama Republican Party. King says he and Chapman are preparing to send a letter to the 350 members of the State Republican Executive Committee. The group will meet in Montgomery February 12th to elect a successor to Marty Connors. So far, Cavanaugh is the only announced candidate for the GOP chairmanship. If she wins it, she would be the first woman to hold the position.
