Hubbard is House Republican Caucus Chair

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – State Representative Mike Hubbard of Auburn is the new chairman of the House Republican Caucus. He was elected Wednesday at a caucus meeting at the Alabama Statehouse. He defeated Representative Blaine Galliher of Gadsden and Representative Jim Carns of Birmingham. Hubbard is replacing Carns as caucus chairman and will serve for the next two years. Hubbard says he wants to raise money and get more Republicans elected in the House in 2006. The party is outnumbered by House Democrats 62 to 41. There are currently two vacant seats. The House Republican caucus elected Representative Micky Hammon as vice chairman, Representative Mary Sue McClurkin as secretary and Representative Bobby Humphryes as treasurer.
