Ft. Benning Soldier Dies in Auburn Crash

By Alabama Public Radio

Auburn, AL – State troopers say they'll continue an investigation Monday into a weekend car crash near Auburn that killed a 22-year-old soldier stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia. Lee County Coroner Bill Harris says Corporal Joshua Wade Cody died Saturday night. The Baton Rouge native was assigned to the 75th Ranger Regiment at Fort Benning. Harris says Cody's vehicle ran off the road in western Lee County and overturned several times. The coroner says Cody was ejected in the crash and died from massive head and internal injuries. Two others who were in the vehicle were treated and released from East Alabama Medical Center. Their names were not immediately available. Harris says the three were traveling to an event in Tallapoosa County.
