Washington, DC – The operator of McDonald's franchise restaurants in Birmingham, Gadsden and Anniston has paid nearly 102-thousand dollars in civil penalties for youth employment violations. The U-S Labor Department's Wage and Hour Division announced Tuesday that C-L-P Corporation also has agreed to comply with the child labor provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. An investigation found minors operated trash compactors and drove motor vehicles at some restaurants. Managers at some locations also apparently allowed 14 and 15-year-olds to work more than three hours or later than 7 P-M on school days. The investigation also found that some employees at the company's 44 locations had not been paid for all of their work.
