Montgomery, AL – More than 400 bills have piled up in the Alabama Senate during a filibuster that's been going on for three weeks now becuase different factions are in a power struggle. Officials say that struggle is not necessarily divided by party lines, as much as it is by potential campaign contributions for the next elections. Auburn Senator Ted Little says with all the different factions competing, everything is "designed for a crash." But Talladega Senator Jim Preuitt says there are divisions, but he also says legislators don't want to kill bills. Preuitt says he believes a compromise can be worked out as long as funding for higher education is provided. Some Senators are divided by their support or opposition for sticking an additional $46 million appropriation for higher education into the education budget.
