Fewer State Residents Tying the Knot

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – Fewer Alabama residents are getting married, and there are also fewer married couples getting divorced. New statistics from the Alabama Center for Health Statistics say that both state and national numbers show that people are putting off getting married until their late 20s. Experts also say divorces are down partly because fewer people are getting married. They also say older couples with established jobs are less likely to face financial problems, and that's a major cause of divorces.
