Mobile, AL – Students could be paying more to attend the University of South Alabama next fall. Administrators have proposed a series of fee increases that would raise the total cost of a year's education by almost 5 percent for undergraduates paying in-state tuition. Trustees of the 13,500-student university are set to vote on the plan Thursday. The proposed fees are separate from school tuition, which is not slated to increase. Increasing fees include those for the student health center, activities, athletics and buildings. South Alabama President Gordon Moulton says he believes that fees for specific costs make bill-payers less unhappy than a general tuition increase.
