FAA to Establish Center for Excellence at Auburn

By Alabama Public Radio

Auburn, AL – The Federal Aviation Administration says it will establish a new Center for Excellence at Auburn University. The center will examine cabin air quality and will study chemical and biological threats in airliners. Other universities across the country will also participate in the effort. The center at Auburn is part of an eight-point-five million dollar federal grant the FAA received last year to study decontamination in airplanes. The Center for Domestic Preparedness in Fort McClellan is also set to receive almost half of that grant money to develop an operations and training program of procedures and techniques for aircraft decontamination.
