Enfinger Wants Bedford to Resign
By Alabama Public Radio
Montgomery, AL – Senate Floor Leader Jeff Enfinger is threatening to undermine Senator Roger Bedford's budget writing authority. Enfinger wants Bedford to resign as chairman of the Senate Finance and Taxation-General Fund Committee. Enfinger says the Senate's credibility is at stake. He's concerned about Bedford's history of funneling legislative pork projects to his northwest Alabama district. Bedford says he has no plans to resign. He has defended his position before, saying previous budgets have been balanced under his leadership. The two senators exchanged comments Wednesday during the committee's meeting.
