"EF-1's, 2's, and 3's" during this week's violent weather

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) - The National Weather Service says at 15 tornadoes touched down in central Alabama during a set of severe storms earlier this week. Forecasters released a statement Thursday outlining where the April 28 and 29 twisters made landfall and how strong they were. Officials say EF0 tornadoes hit parts of central Marion and eastern Macon counties. Forecasters say EF1 tornadoes hit Etowah, Jefferson, Lamar and Tuscaloosa counties. Officials say another EF1 tornado touched down near the Fayette-Marion County line. Meteorologists recorded EF2 tornadoes in Bessemer and Graysville - two areas of Jefferson County - and a third EF2 tornado was recorded in northern Pickens County. Officials say EF3 tornadoes touched down in northern Russell County and in northern Etowah County. Forecasters say survey teams are still evaluating several other areas.
