Drug Treatment Facility Not Faith-Based

By Alabama Public Radio

Birmingham, AL – A Birmingham drug treatment facility says it was mistakenly placed on the White House's list of faith-based organizations. Aletheia House was one of 18 organizations in the state that received federal funds through the faith-based classification. But Aletheia House officials say the facility does not get any funds from religious organizations, and it does not use church facilities for any of its programs. The director says he plans to inform White House officials that it was mistakenly placed on the list. He says the facility gets its name from the Greek word for truth.
