Montgomery, AL – Several Civil War heritage groups will participate in Alberta Martin's funeral next week. She was the last widow of a Civil War veteran. She died Monday in Enterprise at the age of 97. The funeral will include events in Montgomery and Elba. Martin's caretaker, Ken Chancey, says her body will lie in state at the First White House of the Confederacy in Montgomery June 10th and 11th. Her funeral is scheduled for 1 P-M June 12 at the First Assembly of God Church in Elba. Alberta was 21 years old when she married William Jasper Martin. He was an 81-year-old Confederate veteran. They were married less the four years before he died.
