Centobie Executed Thursday Evening

Atmore, AL – Mario Centobie died by lethal injection Thursday evening at Holman Prison near Atmore. He was executed for killing Moody Police Officer Keith Turner in 1998. Centobie spent time with his family and members of a prison ministry group until about 4:30. He was executed nearly two hours later at 6:22. Centobie ate barbequed chicken, turnip greens, candied sweet potatoes, egg noodles with butter and cornbread for his last meal. Centobie was sentenced to death for killing Officer Turner while Centobie was a fugitive from Mississippi custody. He also wounded now retired Tuscaloosa Police Captain Cecil Lancaster, who witnessed the execution.
