Mobile, AL – The city of Mobile is welcoming Carnival Cruise Lines to its newest home port this weekend. The Holiday is set to arrive in the Port City Friday morning, and it will make its first voyage from Mobile to the Caribbean on Saturday. City officials are planning a downtown celebration Friday night, so the public can get a glimpse of what's now being called Mobile's ship. The Holiday will dock at the 20 million dollar cruise terminal that was built as part of the city's one-year contract with Carnival. Officials estimate the ship will make 75 trips a year and bring in about 12 million dollars to the area economy. The Holiday was built in 1985. It is the oldest and smallest ship in Carnival's 22-vessel fleet. It holds about 1,450 passengers.
