Bruno's is Sold to Texas Company

By Alabama Public Radio

Birmingham, AL – A deal announced Thursday will give an Alabama-based grocery chain a new owner. Bruno's, which is based in Birmingham, will belong to Dallas-based Lone Star Funds. The grocery chain's current owner, Royal Ahold, chose to sell Bruno's and the BI-LO grocery chain. It will allow Royal Ahold to cut debts after an accounting scandal forced the company to restate its earnings. The deal is expected to close early next year. It's worth 560 million dollars in cash.
