Bills are Stacking Up in the Senate

By Alabama Public Radio

Montgomery, AL – There are more than 400 bills backed up in the state Senate. A filibuster has halted just about all activity in the Senate for the past three weeks. There are reports that there are several senate factions struggling for control, especially when it comes to potential campaign contributions for the next elections. Some senators also are divided over an effort to include an extra 46 million dollar appropriation for higher education into the education budget. Senator Ted Little says the bickering among lawmakers could cause a virtual shutdown in the senate.
