B-F Goodrich Workers Set to Strike

By Alabama Public Radio

Opelika, AL – More than 25 hundred union members could be on the picket lines at two B-F Goodrich Tire plants in Alabama if they can't agree on a new contract with the company. The deadline is midnight. More than 13-hundred workers are affected at the tire-maker's Opelika plant and about 12-hundred are affected at the Tuscaloosa facility. A representative with the United Steel Workers of America says the union wants assurances that manufacturing jobs at the Opelika factory won't be shipped overseas. Other issues include health benefits and wages.
