By Alabama Public Radio

Undated – (Posted at 5:30 PM Friday 6/10/05)

The National Weather Service has issued an inland tropical storm watch for south and central Alabama. Southwest Alabama is already under the watch. Central Alabama will be under the watch for Saturday night and Sunday. Tropical Storm Arlene is currently forecast to make landfall near Mobile Saturday afternoon. The storm is expected to continue moving along the Alabama and Mississippi state line Saturday night and into Sunday morning. Meteorologists say that will bring tropical storm force winds into the state's southwestern counties late Saturday afternoon and into central Alabama Saturday night. Winds could gust up to 50 miles per hour and rain could be heavy.
