Another Former Employee Implicates Scrushy

By Alabama Public Radio

Birmingham, AL – Testimony continued Tuesday in the case against former HealthSouth C-E-O Richard Scrushy. Former finance chief Mike Martin testified that Scrushy was deeply involved in the company's finances and approved all of its earnings statements before they were made public. Martin's testimony is a blow to the defense, which says Martin and 14 other former executives committed the fraud without Scrushy's knowledge. The government has already secured guilty pleas from all of them. Scrushy faces dozens of charges including conspiracy, fraud and money laundering. He also is accused of false corporate reporting.
