Alabama Republican Party

Alabama Republicans are sending volunteers to assist GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney in swing states, including Ohio and Florida.

Ken Brown, the char of the Cullman County GOP, returned this week from Ohio. He was among more than 100 people from Alabama working for the party.

He says that he and other volunteers spent days knocking on doors to meet voters and helping with other campaign duties.

State GOP Chairman Bill Armistead said the party locally is focused on the race for Supreme Court Chief Justice. Democrat Bob Vance is running against Republican Roy Moore in that contest. Longtime Public Service Commission President Lucy Baxley, a Democrat, faces GOP challenger Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh
